Andros South Lodge - April 2023

April 2023 marked our 7th trip in eight years, starting in 2016. Anticipation was high after a turbulent 2022 with work back home but the addition of two great guests in John Izard and Sam Hollis.  Arriving to a cold Kalik the slack tide will forever be a highlight of bone fishing Day Zero - FXE to Congo Town The endless flat from Bimini We arrive to FEX to a new Makers Air caravan that basically still had the plastic on it. The ride always serves as the perfect warm up to the trip, with the flat essentially starting in Bimini and continuing for an hour as we head south to Congo Town.  We arrived around 11:30 and I was ready to fish. Dad preferred to get organized and practice casting. I've always preferred casting at fish, so I caught a ride from  2-4 and walked Bairs flat at low tide. Saw two Boxfish that wouldn’t take a gotcha. Better than casting at the lodge, pretty walk. Apparently there is a school of fish but not likely to catch singles. The guides started hauling back
